Battery, Spare Tire, and Painting

This week what we were able to do is week were touching up on the trailer before it gets painted. First we made brackets to hold safety bar mounts on the bottom frame of the trailer. Next we took a piece of metal plate, drilled mounting holes into them, and welded them into place to act as a bracket to hold the battery for the trailer. Soon after we took angle iron and metal rods and made a mount for the spare tire for our trailer that fits perfectly into place. When we were done double checking all of our welds and progress we called multiple painting companies until we found one that suited us. After looking for several days we found a shop that will sand blast, prime, and paint our trailer at an affordable cost. As a result we took the trailer to their shop and left it their to get painted professionally.

In the following weeks we plan to purchase the electrical components and hydraulic hoses for the trailer. Then when we get the trailer back fully painted we will install the electrical components and hydraulic hoses making it a fully functioning dump trailer. We will also soon get to working on our presentation for the completion of this project.

What we did well this week was looking at the detail of our work. We made sure everything was the way we wanted it and made the corrections to meet our goals. We also took our time to find the best price and quality for our professional painting job even though we experienced challenges with several companies not keeping their end of the bargain. But we stayed focused and prepared ourselves to finish our project in a timely manner.

What we need to work on is communication. We struggled to find a painter to paint our trailer and had difficulty with the communication between the painter. In the coming weeks with the time ticking down we need to get our communication under control or we might just not finish this project on time. So in order to complete this project we need to work on communication and teamwork to get the job done.
