Side Panels, Hydraulics, and Tool Box

This week we were able to install the side panels on the dump bed, drill holes to mount the hydraulic system, cut parts for safety bars, and build a tool box. First we drilled the holes using a drill bit and drill that took hours to complete because we had to go through an inch of solid steel for the hydraulics pin to fit. Next we used the side panels we cut the previous week and clamped them to the vertical supports. Then we welded them onto the frame and installed them completely. After we used a saw to cut pieces for a safety bar and used the plasma cutter to cut sheet metal. Finally, we cut out C channel and steel plate to form a tool box for the hydraulic pump and battery. We we also able to buy a hydraulic pump for the hydraulic cylinder and made sure it could fit into the tool box we formed.

Next week we are planning to put in the flooring of the dump bed, install the safety bars, install the hydraulics, and make and weld in the tailgate of the dump bed. We need to only cut a few things and drill more holes for the hydraulics, but the main purpose for the coming week is just to install more parts and finish the trailer. After that weekend we will just have to paint and install electrical components.

What we did well this week was getting a lot done and buying more parts. With the time winding down on the completion of this trailer we were excited to get a lot done. Also by buying more parts we will need in the future we are making our job quicker so we can finish on time for the completion of this project.

What we need to work on is finding more time to work. We are getting dangerously close to the end date on this project. If we do not hurry up with completing the project we will struggle to even come close. We have a lot to do, but if we can just find time to work more we can make this work.
